THE PUEBLO PANTRY

WHAT EXACTLY IS THAT, THEN?

At the back of the cafe we have a small shop selling plastic free and planet friendly products.

 

This PUEBLO Pantry represents our effort to support so many people's desire to make more sustainable household-shop choices.

 

We’re aiming to make it straightforward to buy products we already use, but from suppliers who are treating people and the planet with care, without compromising on quality. This includes many local, plastic-free, organic, and vegan options.

CURATED NOT CONFUSED

SIMPLE SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainable shopping sometimes means having to dig around a bit to understand who supplies our goods and how they do it.  This can take time which (we know first hand!) is in short supply for so many of us.

 

For this reason, we are committed to doing all the leg work! (Hooray!)  We will then stock what we think is a reasonable best, balancing sustainability, affordability and quality.  We also always love to hear from you guys about any products that you think we should add to our line-up!

WHAT'S AVAILABLE?

GOOD, GOOD...

SO IS IT ANY GOOD?

So yes, we want to help all of us over-busy shoppers with green aspirations to make manageable, convenient changes to our existing habits.

 

But as well as all of our products having solid trade and eco-credentials, we also want them to be good and lovely in the the most basic way: stuff that smells good, looks good, feels good, tastes good (not the soap, maybe...), and is good at its job.

 

Good stuff all around, so we can be the good we want to see in the world, and enjoy it, too!

CHOICES THAT DON'T COST THE EARTH

THE PRICE WE PAY

Perhaps surprisingly, we have found that these products aren't as expensive as we thought they would be.

We have been excited to find that by keeping it local and eschewing layers of packaging, a considerable number of things are just straight-up cheaper than the big supermarkets anyway.  Win-win, right?  (Another hooray!)

THE REST OF THE COST

Where it is the case that some things are more expensive, we hope the difference in quality helps to justify the additional cost. 

 

And of course, paying that bit more our end means that the true cost of these products doesn't need to be absorbed by people and the environment further up the supply chain, in the hidden places we don't see.

 

That's kinda cool.

While we aim to hold all these products in stock at all times, there may be shortages occasionally. If you are after a specific product, please contact us to double check our stock before making a specific journey.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  1. Bring in your containers, any will do. And if you forget, we have some tubs and bags you can use.

  2. Weigh your containers, and zero the scales.

  3. Fill with the amount you want of the product you choose.

  4. Weigh again.
    Find the product on our self service till (by name, category or product code. 
    Enter the amount.

  5. Repeat for all your shopping.

  6. Pay, and leave smiling, knowing you have done good in the world in all sorts of ways today.
